An Ode to Wakanda

 CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

As an art enthusiast, I love collecting coffee table books for home décor. Coffee table books serve as portals to alternate realities, offering glimpses into thought-provoking photos and showcasing the rich tapestry of art, design, and storytelling through pages.
A new edition I've added to my growing collection is CAMO by Thandiwe Muriu.

In CAMO, Muriu shoots through an Afrofuturistic lens showcasing her subjects in gorgeous Ankara fabrics and custom shades as an ode to high fashion. From bold patterns to vibrant colors, the photos highlight amazing Afrocentric aesthetics by merging tradition with modernity.

This coffee table book explores Afrofuturism, its impact on popular culture, and its role in shaping the future of storytelling through photography. I felt it was giving very much Wakanda Forever vibes.

I think CAMO by Thandiwe Muriu is a must-have book for those eager to delve into the depths of Afrofuturist creativity.

As for me, I'm going to sip on a mocktail and enjoy!

DAY N VEGAS 2021

    Las vegas, nevada

For Fall 2021, I was able to explore the festivities at the Day N Vegas festival in Las Vegas.

While I was thrilled by the amazing lineup, my experience at the festival was aggravated by the terrible location and amenities. Held in a vast parking lot with no seating or resting areas, and with the stages organized in a manner that left much to be desired, my soul was completely irked! Despite the pleasure of hearing performances by some of my favorite artists like Jazmine Sullivan, Doja Cat, Ari Lennox, and Kendrick Lamar, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had wasted my money due to the lackluster setup. Recognizing that Day N Vegas is still a relatively new festival, I hope that they will improve the venue and accommodations in the future. However, personally, I won't be returning.

SLAY INTO SPRING

 CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

Spring is here + so is the swag! It's evident that art is an extension of my personality; I treat everything in life as a canvas...and that includes my nails.

I recently became a nail enthusiast over the past year and wanted to get manicures that reflected my unique personality. I discovered this dope Chicago nail artist by the name of Tacarra "Spifster" Sutton, @spifster that really elevated my swag and has inspired me creatively. I go to her salon monthly to get incredible manicures and style inspiration.

SUNDAY BRUNCH

 CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

I'm a foodie and I love good eats! I just started doing the brunch thing and found a phenomenal spot on the north side of the city called 'Batter & Berries'. This restaurant's specialty is its varieties of french toast...and honestly, its the best french toast I've ever had! This visit, I indulged in the sangria french toast coupled with the Burnt City Stout Barbecued Short Rib.
Hunny, after taking one bite, I looked towards the heavens and said, "Thank you, God!"
The french toast was amazing and the short rib was #bomb! I definitely recommend this place for your next Sunday Brunch.

COACHELLA 2018

 INDIO, CALIFORNIA

Mrs. Carter descended on the California desert for Coachella 2018 + I was there for every minute of it!
I'm a festival girl and I love going to music + cultural festivals. So, I can't tell you how excited I was to get tickets to Coachella this year! It was my first time at the yearly event and I was so impressed by the music, food + art I experienced!

The Queen B was everything!
